Movie Review - The Muppets

I have to be completely honest, I didn't grow up watching The Muppets. I've been exposed to them here and there, but there's not much I can say about them. I know the obvious one's, such as Kermit and Miss Piggy, but my knowledge after that is limited. This didn't take away from the excitement that was building in my heart for the new film, "The Muppets". This revival comes at a very odd time, considering there wasn't exactly a uprising for a new film to come to life. 

The movie opens up with the Muppets disbanded; the best years of the Muppets being years in the past. It's a pair of brothers who miss the Muppets the most, Gary (Jason Segal), and Walter, who is actually a muppet himself. The two first watch the Muppets as youths, and they've stuck together with them since. As Gary continues to grow as humans do, Walter stays the same size as Muppets do. 

Gary and his girlfriend of 10 years Mary (Amy Adams) plan to go to Los Angelas for their annivarsary, and decide to take Walter with them so he could have his chance to see the historic Muppet Studios. But when they get there, they see that the studios are abandoned and just a shadow of their former self. Walter decides to go off on his own, where he eventually overhears that millionaire Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) is planning on buying the studios and drilling for oil.

The three decide to find Kermit and convince him to raise enough money so that the Muppets could keep the studios for themselves. How much do they have to earn? Well. A lot. And considering the Muppets aren't as big as they used to be, trying to find a special guest host and a studio to help back them on their project seems to be extremely difficult. 

The film is filled with fantastic songs written by Bret McKenzie, one half of the duo Flight of the Conchords, which will make you laugh and make you cry. Not just crying from laughter either. The best part about the film is that while it's the human characters that attempt to help bring the Muppets back, they sit in the backseat for the majority of the movie. This isn't a movie about the relationship of a guy and girl; it's about the gathering of the Muppets. 

If you're a longtime Muppet fan or someone who doesn't know much about the group, it doesn't matter. The Muppets has a little bit of fun for everyone with the fun music and the numerous amounts of cameos. So, ladies a gentlemen, it's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to meet The Muppets.

I'm posting images here for one reason. Charlie Sheen. Yeah. He's in a movie. Do you really care who's directing it? Or the plot? Or anything else really? Well. I guess it's still my job to tell you. So! It's directed by Roman Coppola, who hasn't really done anything of significance. The full title of the movie is A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III. The plot of the movie is about a successful graphic designer whose fame and fortune have made him irresistible to women. After his girlfriend breaks up with him, he heads into a downward spiral that forces him to look back on his failed romantic history. It's Charlie Sheen playing Charlie Sheen in a movie. It's actually perfect. The film also has Bill Murray and Jason Scwhartzman doing his best impression of Bob Ross, and succeeding. Anywho. Who cares. THE MUPPETS Final Parody Trailer!

If you've been online over the past few months, you should know that The Muppets is pretty much gunna be the most fantastic movie. Ever. Their marketing has been fantastic, parodying trailers of movies that we're all aware of. Well, this is their last hurrah. This trailer, while showing no new footage, at all, parodies four more movies: Paranormal Activity, Puss In Boots, Happy Feet, and, well, I'll keep the last one a surprise. Check out the trailer after the break to see what it is. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

The Muppets is going to be amazing. All the parody trailers, the incredible cast, there's really nothing else I have to say. The newest trailer that's been released focuses on the actual plot of the story, and it's still just fantastic. I won't say anything else. Here it is.

New Trailer for THE MUPPETS Takes On THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

The Muppets are truly fantastic. But even that doesn't describe their most recent parody trailer of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. We've seen them take on a regular romantic comedy, then The Hangover II, and The Green Lantern. But now, with their best parody trailer yet, they take on David Fincher's newest film coming out later on this year. While that trailer is actually one of the best I've seen, The Muppets may actually have truly taken the Best Trailer of the Year with their newest one. If you had no interest seeing the film before, then watch this. If you still have no interest, then I question if you have a funny bone in your body. It shows a bunch of cameos, several shots with Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, and many other beautiful people. Watch this trailer and be amazed.
