First Images for Tim Burton's FRANKENWEENIE

Tim Burton has one of the most interesting minds in the movie business, there's no denying that. Lately though, it feels like he just hasn't been trying, and this formula of Wackyness + Johnny Depp + Helena Bonham Carter + Danny Elfman just isn't working that much for me anymore. Enter Frankenweenie. One of his original shorts, Frankenweenie is about a boy who loves his dog so much that he decides to try and bring his dog back to life Frankenstein style. Hit the jump for more details.

So what can we expect from Frankenweenie? For one, it's stop-motion animated, which is something that Tim Burton seems to excel with. Also, the film is in black and white, which adds a sort of mysterious element to the mix. Plus, black and white films tend to be much more interesting than color films nowadays. And with Burton's most recent over-dramatic films being overdosed with massive amounts of color, coming back to a simple form should be interesting to see. When talking about Frankenweenie in an interview with EW, Burton says,
“Ultimately, we try to go with the slightly more positive aspects of keeping that [boy-and-his-dog] relationship going.”
It sounds like a nice film with a mix of just creepyness in a way, but you know what, I'm excited. The film has the voices of Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, and Martin Landau. The film opens December 5, 2012.
