Robert Duvall joining Tom Cruise in ONE SHOT; Rooney Mara being cast in the OLDBOY remake?

I know absolutely nothing about the film One Shot. All I know is Tom Cruise is starring in it, and generally, that would leave me a tad worried. But. BUT. After actually looking into what this film is all about, I'm actually pretty interested. Richard Jenkins joined the cast last week, and now Variety reports that Robert Duvall is now on board. Count me in. According to Variety, Duvall has a small but pivotal role which is significant to Tom Cruise's character Jack Reacher and his investigation into a sniper accused of murdering five people. I guess this is probably where I post the synopsis for the film, which will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie based off of the novel by Lee Child's.

Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me.
And sure enough, ex—military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. He knows this shooter–a trained military sniper who never should have missed a shot. Reacher is certain something is not right–and soon the slam-dunk case explodes.
Now Reacher is teamed with a beautiful young defense lawyer, moving closer to the unseen enemy who is pulling the strings. Reacher knows that no two opponents are created equal. This one has come to the heartland from his own kind of hell. And Reacher knows that the only way to take him down is to match his ruthlessness and cunning–and then beat him shot for shot.

The film will be released February 8, 2013, and also stars Rosamund Pike and David Oyelowo. After the break I'll go over the rumors involving the Oldboy remake.

I've been meaning to see the original Oldboy. It's been on my instant-queue for the longest time, and maybe I'll get to it today. But looking at the remake, I'm intrigued. Spike Lee is signed on to direct and Josh Brolin has been given the leading role in the film. Also, Christian Bale may be the one who Josh Brolin is facing off against. Now those three alone have given me a reason to change my shorts. But now, according to Twitch, Rooney Mara is being considered for the female lead.

Well. I have nothing else to say. This is spectacular. The news isn't 100% confirmed yet, but the last time a story was posted from Twitch, it was Brolin being casted in Oldboy. Mara is primarily known for her 8 minutes of fame in The Social Network, in which she absolutely took the scene from Jesse Eisenberg. She'll be seen next in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which just seems like it'll be fucking fantastic. I'm on board the Rooney Mara train, and I'm sure I won't be the only one. Keep in mind, the only confirmed part of this film is Josh Brolin. I'll keep you posted when actual, confirmed news is released. Here's the synopsis for the original Korean film.

Oh Dae-su is a husband and father whose reputation for womanizing is well known. One day, for reasons he doesn’t understand, Oh Dae-su finds himself locked up in a prison cell, with no idea of what his crime was or whom his jailers may be. With a small television as his only link to the outside world and a daily ration of fried dumplings as his only sustenance, Oh Dae-su struggles to keep his mind and body intact, but when he learns through a news report that his wife has been killed, he begins a long and difficult project of digging an escape tunnel with a pair of chopsticks. Before he can finish — and after 15 years behind bars — Oh Dae-su is released, with as little explanation as when he was locked up, and he’s soon given a wad of money and a cellular phone by a bum on the street. Emotionally stunted but physically strong after 15 years in jail, Oh Dae-su struggles to unravel the secret of who is responsible for locking him up, what happened to his wife and daughter, and how to best get revenge against his captors.
